Two Strand Twists Regimen

I’m now in my third year of my 3 goals 3 years journey, but I’ve been growing my hair for a little longer than that.  If you have been on my website you may know that I shaved my head in February 2009 and kept it cut around shoulder length ever since.

It was when I started this website two and a half years ago that I decided it would be cool to try and grow my hair out.  At that time I had good length, but I had no routine or structure when it came to growing it out.  I was pretty free with my hair; honestly, I didn’t do much to it at all. #laziness

Now that I’m in the last year of my 3G3Y journey, I don’t think it’s impossible for me to get my hair to my waist, but it’s going to take more discipline than I’ve been giving it the past few months.  I’m thinking I’m going to spend the last stretch of this hair goal by wearing mini two strand twists like the ones pictured below.

Mini Twists

Why mini twists you ask? Well, simply because mini twists tend to last much longer than normal/pencil-sized twists.  When I wear regular twists, I can usually stretch them to about a week and a half before I have to redo them.  With mini twists I can usually wear them for 2+ weeks before I need to take them out.  Maintaining them is so easy, I use dry shampoo on my scalp once a week, and moisturize my hair every other day or so, and I’m all set.

And there you have it.  That’s my plan for 2015 hair growth.  If you’re wondering about trims, I’ve given up on them for now.  I think I’m going to get a major haircut at the end of the year and get some really cute layers.  Hopefully this will help with my massive single strand knots and split ends (yes, they are abundant.)
